CMS Restoration sent out their water mitigation crew to a call they gotten about a dishwasher spilling water. On the jobsite they found hardwood floors that were starting to buckle. The damage also went under the island. The crew also found that the hardwood flooring ran underneath this island that had this huge granite slab sitting on top. Hardwood flooring will start to buckle with any kind water damage. It’s difficult to dry out the hardwood floor before mold growth starts to from. The subfloor is also difficult to dry out without direct airflow to the subfloor down below.
When the crew saw the giant slab of granite on the island, they called in Granite Accents to remove the countertop safely on one piece. Once the slab was removed, the crew was able to move all the cabinets. The hardwood underneath was also buckled and were removed to start the drying process of the subfloor.
The drying was completed after a couple days, no mold growth was found. The crew then handed it over to the rebuild side of CMS Restoration. The rebuild coordinates all their subcontractors to put new flooring in. The cabinets and countertop will be put back into place after they install hardwoods. All the hardwood in the flowing area of the main level will be re-sanded and re-stained to match the new flooring. They also move any furniture that needs to be out of the way for this process.
