The crew of CMS Restoration recently arrived at a jobsite where they found wet carpet and wet drywall in a basement. As the crew started the water mitigation they found mold on the backing of the carpet. They proceeded to start mold remediation and contained the rooms to prevent any mold spores from spreading throughout the rest of the house. They ripped up all the carpet and pad that was wet and found where wet drywall was with moisture tools that we use to find where the water has spread. They ripped out all the wet drywall and they found wet insulation, moldy drywall and sand that was wedged between the studs and the foundation. This was caused by seepage in the foundation. Seepage happens when the ground and the concrete has been saturated by water, that the water needs somewhere to go. The concrete will push the water out into the basement and cause water damage to the house.

They took all the moldy drywall and treated the moldy studs with an anti-microbial chemical agent, then proceeded to do specialty clean up to ensure all the mold spores are gone. Specialty clean up is where we use HEPA vacuums with HEPA filters in them, and vacuum every square inch of the containment, soak rags in more anti-microbial chemical agent and wipe down the same areas. Finally they use a fogger that has more anti-microbial agents that encapsulates whatever mold spores that might’ve gotten missed. We also have a independent testing company to do a pre and post test to verify the mold spore count and the different types of mold in our containment. Once we get verification from our independent company that we passed inspection, we shut down our jobsite.
